Following the 5-month power blackout that has plagued the Kafanchan Campus, of Kaduna State University ( KASU) into darkness, student leaders of the institution have resolved to embark on a two-day peaceful demonstration to express their dismay over the situation.
This was contained in a Communique issued after an urgent meeting held on September 26, 2023, at the Kaduna State University (Kafanchan Campus)
The Communique stated that the demonstration is scheduled to take place on the 11th and 12th of October, 2023 to raise awareness about the critical issue of the prolonged power blackout.
The Union believed that this action would draw attention to their plight and put pressure on the relevant authorities to expedite the restoration of power to the campus.
The Communique further stated that there is going to be Examination Boycott on October 16, 2023, if power is not restored to the campus by the scheduled date of our second-semester examinations, which is October 16, 2023.
The Union warned that they are prepared to take more drastic action.
“ We hereby declare that if the power supply issue remains unresolved by this date, the students of the KASU Kafanchan Campus will boycott the forthcoming examinations.”
