Katsina fixes LGs election for August

Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KASIEC), has fixed the 2nd of August, 2014 for the conduct of chairmanship and councillorship election in the 34 local government areas of the state.

The chairman of the electoral commission, Alhaji Abubakar Lawal Malumfashi, disclosed this yesterday during a stakeholders meeting in Katsina.

The chairman stressed the his commission has made adequate arrangements for the conduct of the election, assuring that the commission would ensure hitch free election.

Malumfashi who appealed to all stakeholders to support the commission in ensuring a successful polls, disclosed that government has provided 100 % of the commissions financial requirements for the election.

He said “election campaigns would commence from the 2nd of June and end a day before the election. I wish to also warn those displaying campaign posters on public building or utilities”.

The chairman also gave assurance that guidelines containing the rules and regulations guiding the election would soon be distributed to stakeholders and urged political parties to be orderly in their conduct.
