The Ministry of Works under the Kaduna State Government has commissioned the reconstruction of the 10km feeder road at Takalafiya, in the Soba Local Government Area.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony at Soba LGA, yesterday, the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, who was represented by the Minister of Works, Architect Ibrahim Hamza, said it’s a dream come true, as it was part of the 2024 agenda which the state hoped to achieve.
Sani noted that his administration is focused on the development of rural infrastructures and hopes to bring the benefit of good government to the grassroots level in the State which is why they commenced the reconstruction of roads in Soba LGA.
He addded noted that the reconstruction of the road is only one out of the many things his administration desires to do in Kaduna State adding that they hope to return soon to commission other projects.
“The main focus of the government now is the development of rural infrastructures and as part of our agenda which is included in the 2024 budget, is to see how we can revitalize our infrastructures in the rural communities which is why we have started itemizing these projects, one after the other, local government by local government and we are going down to even ward by ward.
“Part of what we are doing now is the commissioning of a 10km feeder road from Takalafiya to Soba LGA and it has already gone far, about 60-70 percent is already done. We have just come to tell the people that, we are here for them.
“As we have started the work, we are going to continue and we are going to round it up within the next 3-4 months. We considered the population density, the agricultural activities, the trading activities, and also the proximity to the town and market area where they can get their farm products.
“We all know that Takalafiya is just like the boundary between three or four wards in Soba and all of them come down to the main Soba ward for their market activities such as the sale of farm produce.
“So that is why we chose that particular area cause when you look at it, it is the largest population area and that was why we chose the road to start with. The rural development we are engaged in is not only focused on roads. We look at rural electrification, agricultural activities, and others, we are doing a lot.
“For example, the rural water provision, Takalafiya is also one of the beneficiaries of that project. So we just came to commission the road but we will still return to the same area to commission water facilities, and sanitation facilities that we have done in the area,” he said.
On his part, the Acting Chairman of Soba LGA, Alhaji Abdulmumin, appreciated the Governor for having good thoughts towards the people.
He noted that the current government of the state has done a new good thing as they have waited years for the reconstruction of the road as previous governments kept making promises with no actions.
One of the youth in the are, Sani Dalhatu Takalafiya, said:”everybody is happy because the state government has made a difference and they pray that God will help them to achieve more in the future.”
