Keane attacks Everton boss

Date:

Republic of Ireland assistant coach Roy Keane has Everton manager Roberto Martinez of putting “pressure” on Irish players to pull out of international duty.

The affected players are Seamus Coleman, Darron Gibson and James McCarthy who are currently with the Irish national side seeking a ticket for the Euro 2016 tournament.

The former Manchester United skipper even went further to suggest that Martinez’s lack of experience in international football means that he fails to treat international football seriously.

He said in his interview with English newspaper Daily Mail: “I worry that he (McCarthy) is under lots of pressure, particularly from the Toffees point of view.

“Because when international matches come up, it seems Coleman and McCarthy are under lots of pressure.”

The current situation has led Keane to suggest a meeting between Martinez and O’Neill, to reach an amicable conclusion.
