Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State have pushed back against recent comments by Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, accusing the lawmaker of misrepresenting the security and political situation in the state while failing to deliver meaningful representation to his constituents.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the party leaders described the senator’s remarks as misleading, insisting that his criticisms of the state government and the handling of insecurity in Kebbi South lacked credibility.
According to the stakeholders, despite repeatedly raising concerns over insecurity in the Zuru Emirate, Maidoki has not executed verifiable constituency projects or provided tangible support to communities affected by attacks.
They also alleged that the senator had failed to attend several consultative meetings involving government officials, traditional rulers and community leaders aimed at finding lasting solutions to the security challenges in the area.
The APC stakeholders further dismissed claims that Maidoki was denied the party’s ticket, maintaining that he was not a member of the APC at the time its primary elections were conducted.
They also criticised comments allegedly made by the senator about the Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, stressing that traditional rulers should not be dragged into partisan political disagreements.
The group described the Emir as a widely respected monarch who continues to enjoy the confidence and support of the people of the Zuru Emirate.
They urged Maidoki to concentrate on his legislative responsibilities and the welfare of his constituents instead of engaging in what they described as unnecessary political controversies.
The stakeholders added that Kebbi residents would continue to support leaders who prioritise effective representation, development and service delivery.
