The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), candidate for Edo South Senatorial District, Frank Idehen Osifo, has blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), for what he described as worsening insecurity and poor governance, insisting that only a united PDP can unseat the party in the forthcoming election.
Addressing party members, Osifo urged stakeholders to put aside grievances from the party’s primary election and work together to secure victory at the polls.
According to him, the election should be about improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians, including unemployed graduates, traders and farmers struggling under the current economic and security challenges.
“I am a bridge builder, not a wall builder. What happened during the primaries is behind us. We all have to come together now, unite, and ensure that, as one force, we perform well in the forthcoming election,” he said.
The PDP candidate argued that insecurity under the APC-led federal and state governments had spread across the country, preventing many farmers from accessing their farmlands and worsening economic hardship.
He maintained that the National Assembly could play a crucial role in tackling the situation through effective legislation aimed at improving security and protecting lives and property.
“Across the board, infrastructural deficits and security challenges have been preventing our farmers from going to their farms.
“Even though legislative business is about making laws that will improve the lives of our people, we can sponsor bills that will guarantee the security and safety of our people so they can go about their businesses and return to their farms without fear,” Osifo stated.
The Edo South senatorial hopeful also criticised previous representatives of the district for allegedly losing touch with their constituents, promising to remain accessible and responsive if elected.
He pledged to maintain close engagement with the people, listen to their concerns and facilitate development projects across communities in the district.
Osifo further thanked PDP members for giving him the party’s ticket and expressed optimism that unity within the party would translate into victory at the polls.
