Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), have resolved to engage the party’s National Chairman, Netanwe Yilwatda, and other key stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.
The resolution was reached at a meeting of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, which ended in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Uzodimma said the governors agreed to deepen collaboration with the party’s leadership to ensure the APC is well-positioned for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
According to him, the forum also assessed the outcome of the party’s primary elections nationwide, reviewed the APC’s performance in the recent Ekiti governorship election and considered the results of several by-elections won by the ruling party.
“We are determined to work on solving the issues and difficulties in our democratic system and making sure our people are in a better situation.
“We also decided to meet with the party’s leaders to plan for the upcoming 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections,” Uzodimma said.
He added that the governors reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and strengthening the APC leadership as preparations gather momentum for the next electoral cycle.
The meeting was attended by APC governors from several states, including Ekiti, Zamfara, Taraba, Lagos, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom and Borno, among others.
