Kebbi governor appreciates traditional rulers’ support, advice 

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has expressed profound appreciation to the traditional institution in the state for its unwavering support, valuable counsel, and sustained efforts in promoting unity, peace, and stability across the state.

The Governor made the commendation on Saturday at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, during the traditional Sallah courtesy call by the four First Class Emirs in the state.

The governor was represented by his Deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida.

Tafida said Governor Idris deeply values the solidarity, advice, and cooperation he continues to receive from traditional rulers, describing their role as critical to the success of government policies and programmes, particularly in the areas of security, social harmony, and community development.

He noted that traditional leaders have continued to play a significant role in fostering peaceful coexistence among the people, strengthening communal bonds, and supporting government’s efforts to ensure lasting peace and security in all parts of the state.

He said that the Governor remains grateful for the unity and encouragement extended to his administration by the traditional institution, noting that such support has continued to inspire the government to intensify efforts in key sectors, including education, agriculture, healthcare, and general welfare of the people.

He assured that the present administration remains committed to protecting lives and property, while urging citizens to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and useful information to enhance peace and stability in the state.

Tafida called on the people of Kebbi State to sustain the spirit of kindness, charity, and good neighbourliness demonstrated during the holy month of Ramadan, stressing that such noble virtues should not end with the fasting period.

He further called on the people to continue to live in peace, shun envy, malice, and acts capable of causing division, and instead embrace unity, mutual support, and understanding for the collective progress of the state.

Earlier, speaking on behalf of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, said the traditional rulers were at the Government House to pay the customary Sallah homage to the Governor and to reaffirm their loyalty and support to his administration.

The Emir commended Governor Nasir Idris for the giant strides recorded by his administration in various sectors, including agriculture, education, healthcare, and general welfare, noting that the interventions of government have continued to positively impact the lives of the people across the state.

He particularly praised the improving security situation in Kebbi State, saying the peaceful conduct of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations across the state was a clear indication of the government’s commitment and the collective efforts of stakeholders in maintaining peace.

The Emir also applauded the administration for its collaboration with traditional institutions and security agencies to ensure communities remain safe and stable, while offering prayers for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.

Among the important dignitaries at the event were the Minister for Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Tanko Yusuf Sununu; the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru; the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida; the Head of Service, TPL Malami Shekare; members of the State Legislature, Commissioners, and Special Advisers.
