Kebbi Govt Launches 50 Mass Transit Buses, Subsidises Fares

The Kebbi State Government has launched 50 new mass transit buses and announced a subsidy on transport fares to ease the burden of transportation cost on citizens.

The Commissioner for Transport and Renewable Energy, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Gagga, inaugurated the news buses at the Birnin Kebbi Central Motor Park on Thursday, which was reconstructed by the government.

“Today, we are witnessing yet another milestone in the transportation sector under the able leadership of Governor Nasir Idris with the launch of 50 brand new mass transit buses,” he said.

“The initiative is intended to ease movement and reduce transport costs. For instance, where commercial vehicles charge between ₦9,000 and ₦10,000, our mass transit buses will charge between ₦6,000 and ₦7,000 to the same destination.”
