The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has promised to provide Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) with uninterrupted electricity supply.
The Managing Director of the Distribution Company, Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna disclosed this when the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe paid him a courtesy visit in his office yesterday.
In a statement by the spokesperson of AKTH, Hauwa Muhammad Abdullahi, Gwamna explained that, as part of his efforts towards alleviating the electricity problem the hospital would be enlisted among the priority areas of the company as well as in the Niger Delta Power Holding Company program.
Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna further requested the management of AKTH to provide the list of their technical staff that manage the electricity of the hospital to organize free training for them, aimed at promoting and ensuring efficiency in their work.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe expressed concern on the way the hospital is spending huge sum of money in trying to provide the hospital with electricity.
He disclosed that at times, the hospital spent over twenty million 20 naira in a month on the purchase of diesel for the 1500 KVA generator that provides the whole hospital with light.
He thanked the Managing Director of KEDCO for coming to the aid of the hospital and it’s patients who find it very difficult to with stand the short break in electricity in the hospital.
