Sen. Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a hospital in the Dobi community, a district under Gwagwalada FCT.
Speaking at the ceremony on Saturday, Kingibe stated she is commitment to delivering quality healthcare services to the community.
According to her, the completed hospital would greatly benefit the community.
“I have just broken ground for this hospital. This community has been in dire need of a hospital for a long time now.
“By God’s grace, in three months’ time, you will get the hospital,” she said.
She expressed hope that the hospital, when completed, would serve the community greatly and reduce their long journey to access healthcare.
While speaking on the party’s mandate, she said the Labour Party is delivering dividends of democracy to citizens and called on Nigerians to cooperate and support the party’s work.
“We believe that a new Nigeria is possible.
“If we all join hands, both the people and their leaders, we can make that new Nigeria. We can create it,” she said.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Angulu Danlami, who spoke on behalf of the community, said that Dobi is the largest community around the area, yet it did not have a quality hospital.
“For the first time, we are experiencing this kind of project. It is a very good development, and the community stands to benefit from it.
“As you can see, the Dobi community itself is one of the largest communities within this area, and other rural areas that come down to Dobi for treatment.
“Sometimes we have to travel as far as Gwagwalada, and some of the communities will have to travel as far as 20 to 25 kilometres for treatment.
He said with the hospital now coming closer to them, the healthcare challenges of the people would be addressed.
