Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of smuggling in a new constitution into the on-going National confab, in order to become a life President.

Kwankwaso who was speaking to newsmen yesterday in his office made the revelation, stating that if Jonathan’s agenda scale through he would secure another fresh eight-year mandate in 2015, all in a bid to perpetrate himself in power and eventually achieve his life ambition.

He stressed that Nigeria needs change at this point in time, Kwankwaso disclosed that the country will continue to pray for the President to sail the ship to shore in 2015, just as he also prayed that he would not want the crisis in the country to degenerate into religious war.

Kwankwaso maintained that he has always been opposed to holding of the National conference, as it is tantamount to share waste of resources, insisting that what the country needs for now, more than anything else is fair distribution of resources.

He said he is convinced that the Confab is harmful to the country, as it is designed to extend the term of office of the President from the proposed single term to eight years by 2015 when the new constitution if endorsed will commence operations, so Jonathan’s agenda by the convocation of the National confab is to transform to a life President.

Kwankwaso alleged that President Jonathan was persecuting APC governors, with the aim of destabilizing the party so as to achieve his inordinate ambition of becoming the life President of Nigeria.

He particularly cited the case of interference in Rivers, Adamawa and lately in Kano, where they announced their candidate as the new Emir of Kano, instead of waiting for the announcement of the authentic Emir, Alhaji Mohammad Sanusi, whose name was in the original list of those shortlisted.

Kwankwaso who noted that Nyako is not the worst Governor in the country, pointed out that the powers that be, often impose the blame on the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC), suggesting that as far as they are concerned APC is bad news.

On resource control, the Governor maintained that we should learn to be our brother’s keeper, noting that if your brother lacks the basic necessities of life, lend him a helping hand, instead of debating on resource control and derivation.
