The Kwara House of Assembly has granted the request of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to secure N2 billion loan from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund (MSME) of the Central Bank of

Nigeria (CBN).

The Deputy Speaker of the House, Prof. Gana Yissa who presided over the session on Tuesday announced the approval of the loan request. It could be recalled that Governor Ahmed in his request said the state government had on August 19, 2014 signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the CBN on how to facilitate the emergence of small and medium scale enterprises and businesses.

Ahmed said government decided to secure the loan to further engender the efforts of the government to facilitate the emergence of the small and medium scale businesses in the state.

He asked the legislature to approve the loan, stressing that the benefit the state would derive are enormous.

The Majority Leader of the House, Alhaji Abdulkareem Abdulganiyu who moved a motion without notice in favour of the loan was seconded by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Alhaji Suleiman Idris.

They urged the House to grant the governor’s request in order to facilitate the emergence of the small and medium scale enterprises and businesses.

The Deputy Speaker after the approval to secure the loan urged the government to use the fund for the intended purpose.
