Labourer bags 24 months imprisonment for causing hurt

Date:

A Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Mararaba, Nasarawa state, yesterday sentenced a labourer, Peter Sunday, 28, to 24 months imprisonment for causing grievous hurt.

The presiding officer, Mr. Albert Maga, gave the sentence after the accused, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Maga, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N8, 000 and compensation of N15, 000 to the complainant.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji, had told the court that Odeh John of Sharp Corner, Mararaba, lodged the complaint at `A’ Divisional Police Station.

Adaji said that on Sept.1, John was standing under a pedestrian bridge, Mararaba, waiting for bus when the convict attacked him.
