The land dealer based in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Kamba, has charged the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to deem it necessary to fight against professional misconduct being carried out by some lawyers in handling the cases of their clients in the courts.
Kamba, who is also the Wazirin Hausawa Abuja gave the charge while speaking to newsmen in Abuja, alleged that many of his lawyers who handled his land cases had wrongly connived with some people to cheat him.
He said: “I won so many land cases in the courts but my lawyers refused to tell me because of my ignorance in the law.
“The lawyers continue to demand for appearance fees from me, and that the judgment will be delivered very soon”.
He pleaded with NBA to checkmate the activities of the legal luminaries on professional misconduct against their clients, saying that plans are underway to expose the lawyers to NBA whenever the need arises.
In another development, Kamba appealed to Nigerian Judges, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and ICPC to always be alert to apprehend land fraudsters in the country.
He also called on the Nigerian Judges to handle the fraudulent sale of lands with the fear of God at their various courts instead of conniving with the lawyers/land agents to cheat the original owners of the allocation papers.
He further charged the judges to Exhibit professionalism, timeliness and dexterity in dealing with the issues of land in the courts.
The Wazirin Hausawa Abuja, however, tasked Nigerians to make the necessary inquiries from the FCT land department before purchasing a plot of land from the land agents, noting that so many land agents are fraudsters.
He said if the Judiciary as well as the lawyers could shun corruption in the discharge of their duties, the country would achieve greatness.
