The FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS), through its Public Health Department has taken sensitization exercise on Lassa fever to facility based Clinicians in the public and private health facilities in nation’s capital.
Secretary, HHSS, Barr. Amanda Pam made the disclosure during an emergency National Council on Health meeting with the theme: “State of Public Health in Nigeria” organized by the Federal Ministry of Health, in Abuja.
Pam said the Department of Public Health has since embarked on sensitization exercise to all the six Area Council, production and distribution and placement of banners, posters, and fliers.
She added that the Department has conducted a sensitization exercise to the Association of Private Medical Doctors in the territory.
The HHSS boss had earlier revealed that in FCT, 19 suspected lassa fever cases were investigated, which include 10 men and 9 women, while 18 samples were collected.
Secretary further explained that only one result was positive and presently 19 contact, and was followed up, the remaining 11 are negative with six pending results.
