President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has lauded Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, for his commitment to fostering democratic ideals.

Lawan, in a birthday message he personally signed to Shettima on the occasion of his 57th birthday celebration, eulogised the Vice President as a patroit, philanthropist and an exceptional leader.

According to him, Shettima’s contribution to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria, marks him out to be celebrated for his genuine commitment to national growth and development.

The former Senate President commended the Vice President for raising leaders within and outside the private and public sectors, who all share his vision for a greater Nigeria.

Lawan’s message reads, “Your Excellency, I rejoice and celebrate with you as you mark another year, today. Indeed, you are a shining example of a true patriot committed to fostering democratic ideals.

“Your forthrightness and generosity sets you apart from amongst your peers as a fine gentleman, philanthropist and an exceptional leader.

“There is no gainsaying the fact that your previous service records and accomplishments from your time as Governor of Borno State between 2011 and 2019; and Parliamentarian from 2019 to 2023, bestows you with the rare privilege and honour of being one of the blazing stars of the North East region. This is not to mention your mentorship which has raised some of the finest leaders – within and outside the public and private sectors – who share your genuine passion, commitment and vision for national growth and development.

“As an astute politician, your contribution to the sustenance of democracy has earned you your rightful place in the annals of our dear fatherland. Our nation is by far blessed to have you as its Vice President, particularly at this time.

“As you celebrate your 57th birthday, may Almighty Allah (SWT) grant you wisdom and courage to carry out the responsibilities, as well as fulfill the obligations of your office to the benefit of our dear country and Nigerians. Above all, may His mercy, grace and protection be upon you and your family, now and always.

In a related development, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has extolled the virtues of the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima on the occasion of his 57th birthday, saying he has made indelible mark in the public and private sectors.

Senator Barau, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, said the Vice President, who was born in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on September 2nd, 1966, has made indelible progressive marks in both private and public spheres of the country to the admiration of all.

“As a banker, he was one of the high flyers in the industry before delving into the political scene where he is contributing immensely to the entrenchment of democracy in the country.

“He raised the bar in governance during his tenure as governor of Borno State between 2011 and 2019, despite the security challenges in the state at that time. Also, as chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior (2019 -2023), he worked tirelessly to address the challenges facing agencies under his committee.”

In the same vein, the Senate Committee Chairman on Privatization and Commercialization, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has congratulated Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima on the occasion of his 57th birth anniversary

Kalu, in a goodwill message issued to newsmen on Friday in Abuja, described Shettima also a former Governor of Borno state as a consummate politician and philanthropist of repute.

“The Vice President has contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria as a Governor, Senator and more as the current Vice President and in various capacities. His contributions to nation building are worthy of commendation and emulation.

“He has consistently demonstrated humility, courage, selflessness and generosity in his pursuits.I urge the Vice President to sustain his good deeds in all facets of life” he said.
