The Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Aloysius Etok, has canvassed for job creation as a recipe to ensuring peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
Speaking when he received an award as Peace Ambassador from the Universal Peace Federation, Etok regretted that Nigeria has become a place where people are killed recklessly on daily basis.
He said that if people are gainfully employed, the crisis of terrorism as being witnessed in Nigeria today would not be the case, even as he urged stakeholders to see job creation as a key means of fighting insurgency in the country.
He called on the international communities to tap into the conducive investment climate in Nigeria to save the country from the crisis of insurgency it is currently facing.
He also commended the association for its sustained efforts to bring about inter-religious peace in Africa and Nigeria in particular, saying that no nation can develop in an environment of crisis.
Speaking earlier, the outgoing national President of the association, Micheal Bokor, called on the National Assembly to enact laws that would promote inter-religious harmony.
He said this would help to stem the tide of killings based on religious misunderstanding, adding that such laws will also promote understanding between the different faiths in the country.
Also, Chang Shik Yang, who is the International Chairman of the association, said irrespective of religion, everybody remains a descendant of Abraham.
He therefore said there is no reason for conflict among the various tribes and religion across the world, even as he pointed out that inter-religious and ethnic marriage would help to resolve the tension in the world today.
