There was tension at the complex of the Zamfara State House of Assembly on Thursday as 18 out of the 24 lawmakers moved to impeach Speaker, Hon. Bilyaminu Moriki.
Peoples Daily reports that heavily armed security operatives have taken over the entrance gate of the complex in Gusau to prevent chaos.
A member of the House, who pleaded anonymity, told newsmen in a telephone interview that plans have been concluded to impeach the speaker.
The seventh Zamfara State House of Assembly was inaugurated on June 13th, 2023.
The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has majority number of the lawmakers in the House.
