Lawyers bemoan unlawful detention of hunters guarding Kashere university by military

A lawyer has accused the military of 301 Artillery Regiment Gombe for the unlawful detention of some hunters guarding federal university Kashere.
Briefing Journalists on Thursday in Gombe Barr. Abdullahi M. Inuwa said the military went straight to federal university Kashere and arrested some hunters while discharging their legitimate duty.
He said on the 28th of September 2023 at about 3:00 am in the morning the incident happened.
He noted that the guards until their arrest were guarding neighbouring villages in Pindiga Emirate including the university in the area.
According to him, the incident took place on the 27th September, 2023 at Gadan Malale along Sabon layi when some uniform men wearing military boots and singlets fought with hoodlums which their clients were never part of the fracas.
However, he said their clients were not in Gombe during the fracas and has no role in connection with the incidence that took place at Sabon layi.
He said section 4 of the Police ACT stated clearly in the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended vested on police to protect the lives and property of citizens and enforce all laws and regulations without any prejudice to enable the Acts of others security agencies.
