The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), yesterday called for the arrest of transgender celebrity, Bobrisky.
They agreed that Lesbianism, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT), which Bobrisky is a strong advocate should be discouraged.The Councils made the call yesterday during a peaceful protest in the nation’s capital to register their discomfort with the activities of Bobrisky and his partners.
Specifically, the protest served as avenue to alert the security agencies and the National Assembly that such display of indecency must be punished.
Speaking while addressing newsmen, NCAC Director General, Otunba Runsewe, said such display by Bobrisky we’re not germane to African culture and should not be tolerated.
“This act has gone too far and should not be allowed. He and his cohorts must be arrested to serve as deterrent to others. I am happy that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu is on top of the issue. We will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to promote sanity in our society.
“I am happy that the youths have come out to tell the world their position on this issue. That shows that we are on the same page.”
Earlier, NYCN Vice President North Central, Akoshile Mukhtar said, “the National Youth Council or Nigeria (NYCN) under the leadership of Ambassador Comrade Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, with the support of the entire Nigeria youths condemn in its entirety the activities of one Ogunleye Idris Olarenwaju, popularly known as Bobrisky and his likes who engage in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT).
“NYCN described the LGBT as ungodly, unhealthy and disgusting, noting that what Bobrisky and his likes are promoting is completely against our moral, cultural and spiritual values. Our laws as a nation also frown at the LGBT activities in Nigeria.
“It is a well-known fact that Bobrisky and some have for a while now being promoting this despicable act in Nigeria via social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram among others. The implication is that if this is left unchecked many of our youths can unknowingly get to be part of this ugly situation. While we urge parents to continue to monitor and guide their wards, they should inculcate in them the good morals and values of our culture and religion. They should also be mindful of their children’s friend both online and offline.”
