Onoja Backs Abdulraheem’s Leadership at Military Pension Board, Retracts Earlier Claim

Date:

A Security and Public Affairs Analyst, Jonathan Onoja, has expressed strong support for the leadership of the Chairman of the Military Pension Board, Mikail Abdulraheem, urging Nigerians to rally behind ongoing reforms at the board.

Onoja made the statement during an interview with Symfony TV, where he retracted his earlier remarks suggesting a leadership vacuum at the board, describing them as a result of misinformation.

“I was misinformed about the alleged leadership vacuum, and my previous comments were based on that misunderstanding,” he said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of military retirees and serving personnel, citing observations from a recent visit to the board’s headquarters in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja.

According to him, ongoing projects include the construction of staff quarters and implementation of measures to address future challenges in pension payment processing.

Onoja further disclosed that Abdulraheem had outlined plans to digitalise pension payments, a move expected to eliminate the need for physical clearance visits by retirees.

He described the chairman’s vision as a demonstration of commitment to veterans’ welfare.

The analyst also dismissed criticisms reportedly linked to Abdulraheem’s predecessor, Abubakar Idris Adamu, and called for collective support for the current leadership.

“I urge Nigerians to support the chairman as he works to improve the lives of retirees and servicemen,” Onoja said.
