Judgement will revive LG administration

Anambra state Governor, Charles Soludo, has hailed the Supreme Court decision affirming the statutory rights of local governments, but declared that state Executives need resources to facilitate the provision of services for the people at the grassroots.
Reacting to the verdict on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, he described the decision as “great”, just as he acknowledged the superiority of the constitution on Democratic tenets.
“That’s great. I mean, the Supreme Court is supreme, is the final authority and am a Democrat. I believe in the rule of law. And once the Supreme Court has spoken, it has spoken.
“But at a fundamental level, yes, we need resources to get down to the real down grassroot and we need the people’s money to work for them at all levels, whether at the federal or the state and the local government.
“We need to promote accountability. We need to promote transparency in the utilization of public resources at all levels, to be able to lift the burden of the common man.”
Also spaek8ng on the verdict during a visit to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu said:
“Nigeria is a democratic country, and we know very well that President Bola Tinubu and the renewed hope agenda is a democratic one. And I believe that the judgment is taken in very good faith. All Nigerians should be happy about it.”
