LG to spend N380m on township roads in Kebbi

Date:

The Sakaba Local Government Council in Kebbi says it will spend N380 million on the construction of township roads in Dirin Daji town as part of measures to prevent flood in the area.

The Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dirin Daji on Thursday.

He said that flood disaster had destroyed property and stagnated socio-economic activities in the area in the past.

Mohammed said N200 million would be spent in the first phase of the project while the second phase would gulp N180 million.

‘’The amount will cover the cost of payment of compensation to land owners affected by the project,” he said.

He said the council would accord priority to the improvement of health, education and water supply in the area.

The chairman, however, appealed to the state government to assist in the rehabilitation of the only general hospital in the area.

“The council would ensure that health centres and dispensaries were provided with qualified health personnel and drugs to boost health care delivery service, while boreholes would be provided in remote areas,’’ he said.

Mohammed, however, appealed to traditional and religious leaders in the area to educate their followers on the need to enrol their children in school. (NAN)
