The Benue state Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia has approved an Interim Management Team for Lobi Stars with a stern warning to avoid distractions.
This Interim Management team will take over the affairs of the club pending a proper restructuring of the club.
A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Tersoo Kula said the committee is headed by Terver Ikya as Chairman, Uja Emmanuel – Media Director, Harry Yachi – Technical Director, Terzungwe Chugh – Admin/Board Secretary (Ministry of Sports) and Barr Owocho Adejoh Ogiri as Member
“The interim Management committee has been directed to immediately register the club for 2025/2026 NNL football season.
“The Governor warns against distractions and urges all members to work together to achieve success and ensure the club returns to top flight football”, the statement read.
In another vein, the new Commissioner for Sports in Benue State Hon Tiza Imojime has expressed disappointment with the level of work at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.
It should be noted that works at the stadium has since been stalled for a long as a result of bottlenecks.
On one hand the state government said it has paid the contractor Momichelle Sports Facility 1.2 billion naira of the contractual sum which is put at 1.7 billion naira , while the Chief Executive Officer Monimichelle Ebi Egbe have continually attributed the delay in completion of the stadium to non arrival of facilities like the playing turf.
Angered by this ugly, the State Assembly under the sacked speaker Hyacinth Dajo had directed the revocation of the contract, asking the contractor to return monies given to him or face probe even as Egbe fumed at the act by the Assembly, threatening to also sue the state government.
The new Sports Commissioner who inspected the level of work at the stadium on Wednesday, decried the low level of work. He also, inspected the McCarthy Stadium to assess the condition of the facilities and the level of ongoing renovation works.
