From Edwin Olofu, Kano

Prominent northern elder and veteran journalist Alhaji Magaji Dambatta, who passed away on Wednesday at an Abuja hospital, has been buried in Kano yesterday.

Dambatta died at the age of 83 in Garki Hospital on Wednesday after a protracted illness.

His corpse was conveyed to Kano by a State House ambulance, with registration number SH 692, while the Chief Imam of Kano, Professor Sani Zaharaddeen performed the funeral prayer at Kofar Kudu in Emir of Kano palace at 3.07pm, Thursday.

Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II was among hundreds of sympathizers that participated in the funeral prayer of late Dambatta at the palace, Kano.

His body was taken to the Tarauni cemetery immediately, where he was buried according to Islamic rites.

Among the dignitaries that took part in the funeral prayer include the Kano state Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Rabi’u Suleiman Bichi, Alhaji Maitama Sule (Danmasanin Kano), Alhaji Isiyaku Rabiu, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Commasie, AVM Muktar Mohammed (Retired), Alhaji Sani Buhari Daura ( Walin Daura).
