The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the FCT, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has promised to send students in the area next year to study abroad.
He said the students would be given the necessary support to learn skills abroad in order to move the Area Council forward and Nigeria at large technologically.
Maikalangu, who made the pledge in an interview with newsmen during the official flag off ceremony for the disbursement of 2023 scholarship to 1024 students which took place at Apo town hall in Abuja on Monday.
He disclosed that N30million was budgeted for this year’s schorlarship award, saying that next year the administration of the council would budget more money for the scholarship.
He also revealed that the students were selected across the twelve political wards of the Area Council for the scholarship, pointing out that scholarship award was made for every student residing in AMAC irrespective of tribal inclinations.
AMAC boss, however, advised the beneficiaries of the scholarship to make use of the money doled out to them wisely for the sake of their studies. Saying that the scholarship award has nothing to do with political parties.
Maikalangu used the occasion to call on the investors residing in AMAC to use their resources to better the lives of the inhabitants in all ramifications.
