Man 29 remanded in prison for threatening to kill own mother in Kano

The Kano State Shari’ah Court number seven, sitting at Fagge Local Government in Kano metropolis and presided over by magistrate Abdu Abdullahi Waiya, has ordered the remand of a 29-year old youth for allegedly threatening to kill his own mother on Monday.

The accused, Abdul-Aziz Umar, a resident of Tudun Murtala area of Nasarawa local government area, was said to have been taken to court for the said offence and allegedly insulting his biological mother for interfering in his affairs.

Umar pleaded guilty of his offences, which contravened the Shari’ah penal code after the magistrate, Mr. Waiya, read the charges against him.

“ Yes I confess that I insulted my mother and threatened to kill her. I will not say anything again. We should just leave the matter” he said, when asked by the magistrate.

Mr. Waiya, who proclaimed that the accused will be punished based on his confession before the court, sent him back to prison and adjourned the case till July 29, for hearing.
