Man, 33, arraigned for rape, assault in Yobe

The Chief Magistrate Court 11, sitting in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, presided over by Chief Magistrate, Hadiza Lawan Musa, has arraigned a 33 years old man, Idris Dauda Idris, on three count charges of rape, assault or criminal force to woman with intention to outrage her modesty and act of gross indecency.
Police prosecutor, Sgt. Paul Wilson, told the court that the case was reported at the police B division Maisandari ward, Damaturu by one Ali Fannami of Madori ward, Damaturu, and transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department on the 7th day of September, 2017.
He told the court that the complainant, Ali Fannami, reported that sometimes in the month of June, 2017, the accused person lured his 13 years old daughter, name withheld, with money on several occasions and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her against her will and as a result she became pregnant.
He told the court that the offence committed by the accused person is punishable under sections 283, 268, and 285 of the penal code law.
When the charges against the accused person was read out to him before the court, he pleaded not guilty to the charges, thus, at the request of the prosecutor, the case was adjourned to the 18th of October, 2017, while the accused was granted bail at the sum of N100, 000 with a surety of equal amount who should be residing within the jurisdiction of the court
