A 22-year old garage official, Wasiu Kadiri , has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his friend to death.
The incident happened on Sallah day, on July 25. It was gathered that “the late man, was a friend to one Tunji whom he accused of befriending and running away with his wife named Barakat.
He was arrested by operatives of the State Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS), he was arrested while taking his bath on Tuesday, November 4 at the place of work, Oroyin motor park, Lagos Island.
According to Kadiri “I married Barakat, and we both have a three-month-old son, the guy I killed is a friend to Tunji. He said on Sallah day, I saw Tunji early morning in the area, on my way to pray, was with that man.
Prior to that time, he had run away with my wife for some time.
He said I got the information that it was Tunji who was befriending my wife. On that sallah day, it was about 10am. Tunji and the man were going about on a bike, and roaming the frontage of my own family compound.
He said, “The man was showing me a cult sign drawn on his belly as their bike passed, at a point, Tunji went into their own compound, while the man was coming towards me”.
“He was trying to tease me to a fight; he came and asked me if I knew who he was. I became angry and insulted him. Then he gave me a blow on my face. At that point, I looked around and saw a knife with which I attacked him”.
Kadiri further said “the knife I used in killing him was just used to kill a sallah cow. I stabbed him on the neck. He slumped and he was gasping for breath. I did not mean to kill him”.
I did not attack Tunji because they had warned me that he was a cultist. I stabbed him in the neck. When they saw the man in a pool of blood, two of Tunji’s friends in the area took cutlasses and started pursuing me too.
That was how I fled. I ran to Lagos Island to my working place.
Meanwhile, my wife showed up some days to Sallah, and when my grandfather invited her to inquire why she ran away with Tunji. “My wife told me that it looked as if she was charmed as she did not understand why she behaved like that”.
