Mannir Dan-Iya emerges Sokoto ADC governorship candidate

Delegates have affirmed a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Manir Dan-Iya as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that delegates from the 244 wards of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state endorsed the nomination of Dan-Iya as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The Chief Returning Officer for the primary poll, Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela, said a total of 52,831 delegates voted for Dan-Iya.
“Consequently, I hereby declare you as the sole candidate of the ADC in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Dan-Iya said he wholeheartedly accept the offer to serve the people of the state, with a view to improving their lots.
While pledging to be diligent, the ADC flag bearer expressed the hope that ADC will unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress at all levels.

While also commending other leaders and members of the party for the confidence in him, called for unity in the struggle ahead.
The party leader in the state, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, said the party would mostly fielded youths in the forthcoming general elections, and expressed optimism that they will record huge victory during the polls.
Tambuwal called on party members and supporters to be resilient and work for the victory of the ADC.
