The National President of the Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has said that the various attacks on the masses in Nigeria by the Boko Haram Terrorist group is a sign that the insurgents are clearly loosing grounds in the country.
The CAN president said this yesterday, in a statement, to commiserate with the victims of the bomb blasts in Kano and Jos, this week.
According to the statement, Pastor Oritsejafor said the recent attacks in parks and other popular places was a sign of a gradual overthrow of the terror group. ‘lt is now obvious that the insurgents are losing grounds hence their resolve to hit soft targets such as innocent women and children in market places. This is clear in the recent attacks in both Kano and Jos.”
The CAN president described the acts as an evil that ravages communities and productive sectors of the economy.
He noted that the war against insurgency was a matter of concerted efforts.
“I will like to state again for clarity sake; this war is not for the military alone, soldiers don’t go to war, it is a nation that goes to war, so we must understand our roles as citizens in this fight’.
Pastor Oritsejafor called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and prayerful for the country.
“My call on Nigerians, especially Christians, is to remain vigilant, supportive of government and most importantly remain prayerful; I don’t want us to succumb to the wishes of these criminals”.
He however reiterated his call for further involvement of government and the Military in the fight against Terror in Nigeria
The CAN president enjoined Christians across the country to continually pray for peace and Unit.
