The All Progressives Congress (APC) has adjusted its timetable for the 2027 general elections, moving its presidential primary from May 15–16 to May 23, 2026, while governorship primaries will now hold on May 21.
According to the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, the changes were approved at the 186th National Working Committee meeting in Abuja as part of a broader review aligned with the Electoral Act 2026 and INEC’s election schedule.
Under the revised timetable, sales of nomination forms begin April 25 and close May 2, while screening of aspirants across all levels including presidential hopefuls will run from May 6 to May 9.
Screening results will be published on May 11, followed by appeal sessions between May 12 and May 13.
Primary elections will commence May 15 with House of Representatives contests, followed by Senate (May 18), State Houses of Assembly (May 20), governorship (May 21), and presidential primary (May 23). Appeal committees will sit through May 25.
The party also confirmed that it will adopt both direct and consensus methods for primaries, allowing aspirants to choose their preferred mode, with consensus valid where agreement is reached.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the 2027 general elections for January 16 (presidential and National Assembly) and February 6 (governorship and state assemblies), with campaigns set to begin in August and September 2026 respectively.
