The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Sokoto State has recorded a major political gain at the weekend following the defection of hundreds of opposition politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress, ADC, and other political parties.
The APC leader in Sokoto State, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko received the defectors at his residence in Sokoto.
The defectors included former State Legislators, former Local Government Chairmen, ward and LGAs party chairmen, Councilors, youths and women leaders from across the state.
In separate remarks, they attributed their defection to the APC to the giant strides made in the area of road infrastructure, urban renewal, rural development, education, security and welfare by Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.
Welcoming the defectors, Sen. Wamakko said their presence would strengthen the APC and make it the party of choice in Sokoto State.
He assured the new members of equal rights and opportunities within the party.
“This is a homecoming. APC is one big family. With your coming, we are more united and stronger to deliver more dividends of democracy and to ensure victory for the party in 2027,” Wamakko stated.
