In what appeared to be a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) final collapse in Jigawa state, the former Vice Chairman of the party, in charge of North-West, Senator Abdullahi Danladi Sankara, alongside other eight thousand, seven hundred supporters yesterday dumped the party and defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Receiving the defectors at the Aminu Kano triangle square, Dutse, the APC National chairman, John Oyegun, who was represented by the Vice Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Lawal Shu’aibu, assured the defectors that the party will progress without any hindrance.
“I want to assure you that from today, you are eligible members of the APC like every member, and the party will do everything possible to protect your interest”, he said.
Also speaking at the gathering, the Jigawa state Governor, Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, said the opposition PDP has finally died in Jigawa state, adding that the former administration of PDP in the state planned to deceive Jigawa people by creating hatred against APC in their minds but they finally failed hence PDP has now remained empty in the state.
In his remarks shortly after he was received, Senator Sankara promised to be loyal to the party’s leadership, adding that he will do all his best to ensure APC’s victory at any level.
