Mikel Obi nominated for Stoke City’s October Player of the month

Former Ghana international, Joetex Asamoah-Frimpong has revealed that he made the right decision to choose the Black Stars over the Nigeria national team.
Asamoah-Frimpong came to be known through his impressive displays for Enyimba FC where he won the Caf Champions League with the team on two occasions as well as the Golden Boot.
He became so good at that he was offered the opportunity to play for both the Black Stars and the Super Eagles but he believes Ghana was the right choice despite the team not qualifying for the 2006 Fifa World Cup.
“I honestly don’t regret my decision to swerve Nigeria for Ghana. I was honoured to play for Ghana because normally when it comes to Ghana, you will have to be playing in Europe before you get a call-up”, he said in an interview with Happy 98.9FM.
“My best game for Ghana was against Burkina Faso in the 2006 world qualifiers. I played for only 15 minutes. I came on and gave two assists which gave us the win.”
The 38-year-old was capped 11 times for Ghana while scoring two goals during his international spell – he announced his retirement in 2009
