The Director of legal Services Unit of the Nigeria Amry, Major C.O Madu has said military personnels can’t no longer hide from family responsibilities due to the program put in place by the military to tackle such offenders.
He stated this when National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) at the weekend hosted the Civilians -Military Forum and Civil Society Organisations as well as general public on how best to cement the relationship between the Civilians and the Military.
Madu noted that some officers will have family with children and when they are transferred to another base they will still engage another family leaving the first one to suffer with children alone.
He said this is no longer in practice because when such matter is reported to the military and investigate, the officer will face punishment.
He reiterated that the military has educated it personnel to desist from activities that will bring the force to jeopardy.
Major C.O Madu, reaffirmed that the military will do everything possible to protect civilians during their legitimate duty and expect them to reciprocate the gesture in respecting them.
