A mining site belonging to a company identified as ‘African Minerals and Logistics Limited’, has reportedly collapsed as a result of the heavy rainfall and trapped several victims in Galkogo, Shiroro local government of Niger state
It was reliably gathered that one person has been confirmed dead, six others rescued with severe injuries, just as 30 people including the site manager, Alhaji Ibrahim Ishaku were still trapped underground.
This was contained in a statement issued by NSEMA PRO Hussain Ibrahim on behalf of the Director General of Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah in Minna.
He hinted that the rescuers have to run for their lives as the mine kept falling inside.
Similarly, the Agency has received reports of persistant banditry activities in Shiroro and Mashegu Local Government Areas, where 26 persons were kidnapped with hundreds of cattle rustled in Niger state.
