Minister urges CCB officers to uphold integrity, professionalism

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has charged 102 newly trained officers of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to uphold integrity, professionalism, fairness, and respect for due process in executing their duties.
The Minister gave the charge on Monday during the closing ceremony of a capacity-building program for the CCB officers at the EFCC Academy in Karu, Abuja.
In a statement signed by Suleiman Haruna, Director of Public Relations and Protocol at the Ministry, Idris highlighted that the CCB plays a pivotal role in Nigeria’s governance framework.
He noted that its constitutional mandate to enforce ethical standards for public officers is fundamental to building public trust and institutional accountability.

“Communication is not simply about announcing government policies or disseminating information about government activities.
“It is also about helping citizens understand the values, responsibilities, and expectations that underpin good governance,” Idris said.
The Minister emphasized that combating corruption requires more than enforcement; it demands prevention, ethical leadership, public enlightenment, and active collaboration with media and civil society.
He reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening anti-corruption bodies and deepening transparency across public service.
Addressing the graduating officers directly, Idris urged them to translate their training in investigation and enforcement into ethical daily practice.
“Every investigation conducted fairly, every declaration properly examined, every complaint handled professionally, and every decision taken in accordance with the law contributes to the larger objective of building a public service that Nigerians can trust,” he stated.
Idris reassured the Bureau that the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation would continue to utilize its communication platforms to educate the public on the CCB’s vital role in national development.
