Popular actress and screen goddess, Monalisa Chinda has collaborated with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC), to sponsor about 10 women for a fibroid surgery.
Speaking to newsmen at the NAFDAC office in Abuja yesterday, the Nigerian actress said apart from being driven by the zeal to ‘give back’ to her society, she was the more motivated to help women with such health issues haven lost about 2 relations to fibroid disease.
According to her, most people only remember to give to the motherless home without remembering that mother’s health is also paramount to raising healthy babies and homes.
She explained that she chose to partner with NAFDAC because of the agency’s activities and care for the safety of Nigerians when it comes to health matters.
Chinda also noted that the women to be sponsored will be treated in the country and attended to by Nigerian surgeons and doctors as it is about time Nigerians began to appreciate the capability of the country’s health sector.
Commending Monalisa Foundation for its kind gestures to fellow Nigerians and collaborating with NAFDAC to better the life of citizens, the agency’s DG, Dr Paul Orhii also disclosed that the country could now produce safe and original drugs at affordable rate to sick Nigerians.
He said about 4 Nigerian drug companies have been certified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to produce drugs that meet international standard.
The NAFDAC director finally urged Nigerians to join in the fight against drug counterfeiting and substandard products by reporting any suspected moves of drug dealers, as the action will go a long way to assist the agency while also helping to safe guard the lives of Nigerians
