Mosaic Production holds ‘Drive-in’ theater in Abuja April 4

Mosaic Theatre Production in synergy with its partners may have concluded plans to hold “Drive-in theater in Abuja, Director of Mosaic Theatre, Agozie Ugwu has said.

Agozie who made this known in a virtual press conference at the weekend noted that Drive-in Theatre was about a stage play of “Tony Wants to Marry” written by Jerry Alaagbaoso and holding on the 4th of April, 2021 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Continuing, Agozie stated that the play is situated within a typical Nigerian family system and the pressures from parents on their children to get married at certain age hence the idea of Tony, the protagonist opting to marry when the parent wants.

He informed that the play contains no political, ethnic or religious stimulated scenes, but a depiction of social reality inherent within Nigerian families.

Agozie noted the performance ingrates elements of dance and music at its best and a theatrical experience no one in Abuja would want to miss.

He said the idea of Drive-in Theatre is to ensure safety of people in this covid-19 era and forestall the wild spread of the virus.

Agozie who defined Drive-in Theatre as a kind of theater  structure consisting of a large outdoor movie screen, a projection booth, a concession stand, and a large parking area for automobiles where audience can view movies from the privacy and comfort of their cars, thanked MTN Nigeria, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja and Play Network Africa for their support

Also speaking, Executive Secretary of MTN Foundation, Nonny Ugboma while commending Agozie for the upcoming show said MTN is committed to cultural development that will provide a platform for Nigerian creativity to find expression through capacity building of young people in theatre.

Even as she maintained that theatre will help true narration of Nigerian stories, Ugboma said theatre will definitely promote cultural understanding and rich cultural diversity to wider local and international audience.
