The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on Monday that it had so far registered 5,000 Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) following last Sunday’s suspected Boko Haram insurgents attack on Monguno, in Borno state.

North East Zonal Information Officer of the agency Abdulkadir Ibrahim stated this in a statement in Maiduguri.

“The North East office of NEMA in conjunction with the Borno Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has so far registered 5000 IDPs trooping into Maiduguri following last Sunday’s attack in Monguno, headquarters of Monguno Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno.” He said.

A state government housing estate under construction on Gubio Road has been converted to a refugee camp for the IDPs to provide shelter,’ Ibrahim said.
