The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) says that Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, will deliver a lecture at the 2025 edition of Zuma International Film Festival (ZUFF) scheduled for Dec.3 in Abuja.
Mr Brian Etuk, NFC’s Director of Public Affairs stated this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Etuk said the annual lecture is a major film industry event of the film festival, focused on shaping narratives and conversations wrapped around not just on the emergence, on potency of film as a soft power and economic force.
He added the previous film lecture series had enabled Nigeria to address challenges as well as upscale opportunities that abound within Nigeria’s creative ecosystem.
“Mutfwang, through the topic of the lecture ”From Policy to Power – The Future of Africa’s Cinematic Influence”, will not only present a historical perspective on film policy and power, but will critically evaluate current realities about cinematic influence.
“The imperatives of shift in focus from policy to implementation as well as the intentional harnessing of opportunities the film sector offers, through impact-driven transformations and creative innovations,” he said.
Dr. Ali Nuhu, NFC’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, in the statement said that the annual film lecture series, introduced since 2006, has sought to address and proffer workable solutions.
Nuhu said such solutions have aided practitioners and stakeholders’ performances and engagements, positive and impactful outcomes as well as the growth of Nigeria’s film industry.
“The lecture series will continue to provide valuable opportunities for the NFC and the nation to address critical national creative economy challenges, “he said.
