National Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Commission N-HYPPADEC has intervened to construct a new retaining wall at the river Gurara bank causing gulley erosion at Muye to forestall annual flooding that ravaged 38 communities in the area.
Member representing Lapai/Agaie federal constituency at the National Assembly, Abdullahi Mahmoud said this during an inspection tour of the project at Muye in Lapai local government area of Niger state
He explained that this necessitated him to approach N-HYPPADEC for intervention following the collapsed of the initial wall and expected raining season soon next, adding that most ot the affected people have lost their means of livelihood over the years has crippled the socio economic activities of the people of the communities who are predominantly farmers and fishermen.
The federal legislator applauded the commission for the quick response to intervene by accepting to construct a new long lasting retaining wall to prevent the erosion from further causing desaster on the lives of the citizens.

Represented by Director Operation of the Commission Engineer Ilyasu Abdullahi Wara, who identified engineering failure as the major cause of the collapsed of the initial retaining wall constructed to present the gulley erosion.
