National Council for Arts and Culture(NCAC), said Lagos state will be hosting over 5,000 delegates for the forthcoming 35th edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture ( NAFEST).
“The contingents are from 36 states and Federal Captial Territory (FCT). They shall all assemble in Lagos state during the fiesta.”
The Director General NCAC, Otunbe Runsewe made the disclosure during the preliminary meeting with the Lagos state ministry of culture and tourism in preparation for the2022 edition of the national festival of arts and culture (Lagos NAFEST2020), yesterday in Abuja.
Runsewe stated that the festival of arts and culture unites the nation.
“NAFEST is the foremost cultural festival in Nigeria and it is getting bigger and better at every edition. We have no doubt that Lagos state, the center of excellence will bring its well known finesse to bear.
“If we set arts and culture right, tension across the country will ease. We should respect each other’s culture so as to bring more cultural diplomacy in country.
“NAFEST gives opportunity to states to showcase their strength and what the state has”.
He called for collaboration between the Lagos state government and the NCAC for the success of the upcoming Festival.
He said the festival which will present Lagos and other participating states ample opportunity for free medical test, and skill acquisition trainings and other empowerment is set to hold in November this year.
Meanwhile, The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, said Lagos state is fully prepared to host this year’s NIFEST.
Akinbile-Yussuf,revealed that Lagos state is ready and capable of blowing peoples’ minds with various unique arts and culture.
“The state will leave a touch in peoples’ hearts for a long time.
“In this years NAFEST, we have introduced another dimension to the fiesta. Instead of one week, Lagos is hosting for two weeks“, she said.
