NAHCON upgrades hajj transit camp in Kaduna

National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced the upgrading of Hajj Transit Camp Mando, Kaduna as contract for the renovation of mosque, building of toilets and places of ablution for males and females are in advance stages of completion.
Inspecting the project early this week, the Chairman of the commission, Barrister Abdullahi Muktar Muhammad said the projects are being executed from development levy of N5,000 charged each pilgrim since 2012.
The board Public Relations Officer, Yunusa Muhammad Abdullahi disclosed in statement signed and made available to newsmen in the state.
The statement quoted NAHCON Chairman said the ongoing project at Mando is the first phase of upgrading the Hajj Camp with modern facilities.
He said the process of awarding the second phase which includes building a five star hotel and clinic would soon be completed.
According to him similar projects will be awarded in other pilgrim’s shelters across the country.
Barrister Abdullahi Muktar urged the contractor to execute the project according to contractual agreement and speed up its completion.
In his remarks, the Overseer of Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Hussaini Sulaiman Tsoho Ikara expressed his satisfaction of the project and thanked the NAHCON Chairman for ensuring the upgrading of the Hajj Camp.
He promised to closely monitor the project and ensure the contractor did not compromise quality.
The chairman was accompanied by NAHCON officials and management staff of Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board during the inspection tour.
