The Nigerian Navy has raised alarm over a fake Facebook account purportedly belonging to the Chief of Naval Staff, (CNS) Vice-Admiral Usman Jibrin.
The fake Facebook page is said to being fraudulently used to direct unsuspecting members of the public to call a telephone number for the purpose of enlisting into the Nigerian Navy.
According to an issued statement signed by the Naval Director of Information, Commodore Kabir Aliyu, said the Chief of the Naval Staff doesn’t own any Facebook account, adding that any person who subscribes to this fake Face book for the purpose of enlisting into the Nigerian Navy does so at his or her own risk.
Aliyu further gave valid support lines to call in respect of the forthcoming 2014 Nigerian Navy Recruitment Exercise as 08124511398 and 08159999011.
“By this disclaimer, the Nigerian Navy cannot be held responsible for any damage suffered by gullible members of the public” the statement added.
