The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has accredited five new courses at the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, giving the polytechnic a total of 35 courses available for prospective students.
Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Olufunke Akinkurolere, confirmed this in a chat with newsmen.
He said the institute was determined to build graduates that could compete favourably with others anywhere in the world.
According to her, OGITECH now offers Mass Communication at both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels.
Akinkurolere explained that the NBTE also approved Urban and Regional Planning, Marketing, Quantity Surveying, as well as Building Technology as new programmes for the institute.
The Rector maintained that the ICT-oriented polytechnic, which hitherto had 18 courses, now has 35 accredited programmes.
She recalled that the NBTE had recently visited OGITECH for resource inspection, stating that “the new programmes would begin in the 2021/2022 academic session.”
“These new programmes will expose students to new frontiers of knowledge as the institute will continue on its mission to deliver world-class educational services, using competent personnel and modern facilities,” she assured.
