NEMA donates building materials to Kaura attack victims

Additional relief materials were donated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to cushion the plight of the people of Bondon, in Kaura Local Government of Kaduna state.

The gesture was as a result of a recent attack unleashed by unknown gunmen to three villages in Bondon District, which led to several loss of lives and properties.

Presenting the items, NEMA Director-General, Sani Sidi said, “When the incident happened, the agency made a rapid response to established camps and provided relief succour to the victims. Since then, we have been monitoring the camps from time to time through our Kaduna zonal office”.

The D-G, who was represented by the Director of Administration, Dr. Zanna Mohammed advised the people to make proper use of the building materials and support the government efforts towards ensuring permanent peace.

Additional items given by the agency to the affected victims are1105 bundles of roofing sheets, 600 bags of cement, 663 bags of zinc nails, 884 bags of roofing nails and 1000 pieces of ceiling sheets.

In his response, the state governor, Muktar Ramalan Yero, represented by his Deputy, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga, said, as a government, they remain committed to the restoration of peaceful co-existence amongst the diverse ethnic groups in the state.

“We, therefore, wish to reassure you that our administration will continue to provide the enabling environment for peace to thrive. Today, we are here to reassure the people of Moro’s chiefdom that this administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that everybody returns to their homes”, he said.
