Former caretaker committee chairperson of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Nenadi Esther Usman, has been elected as the party’s substantive National Chairman.
She emerged at the LP national convention held on Tuesday in Umuahia, Abia State, where party leaders adopted a consensus arrangement to fill all National Working Committee positions.
Also elected is former House of Representatives member for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency and Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Political Affairs, Hon. Acho Obioma, who becomes the new National Secretary.
He replaces Senator Darlington Nwokocha, who served in the caretaker committee.
All other positions in the new leadership structure were also filled through consensus during the convention.
